The mutilated remains of a man was found stuffed inside a suitcase in the Kalibata City apartment complex in Pancoran, South Jakarta yesterday evening. Police have identified the remains as belonging to RHW, a man who had reportedly been missing since last week.
RHW’s family said he was missing since last Wednesday, and they eventually filed a missing persons report at the Jakarta Metro Police on Saturday. The police traced RHW’s last known movements to an apartment in Semanggi, South Jakarta and his office in Pancoran, before eventually discovering his mutilated body in Kalibata City.
“In regards to the missing persons report, results of the investigation led to the discovery of his mutilated body inside a suitcase. So the pieces of his body were wrapped in plastic bags and stored inside the suitcase,” Jakarta Metro Police’s spokesman Yusri Yunus told reporters yesterday.
Prior to discovering the body, police apprehended a number of suspects in Depok, West Java, including a woman, whose relation to the victim is not yet known. They were then brought to Jakarta Metro Police HQ for questioning.
Supardi, who heads the Pancoran sub-precinct crime investigation unit, said the suspects murdered and mutilated RHW either in Central or West Jakarta, before they hid the body in a 16th floor apartment unit in Kalibata City.
A Kalibata City employee said they are still identifying the owner and leaseholder of the unit.
RHW, who was 32 years old at the time of his death, hailed from Sleman regency, Yogyakarta. He reportedly worked as a human resource development manager at a Japanese construction company.
Authorities are still looking into the motive of the gruesome murder.
